# STEP 4: GIVE THE WORK A HOME

**Goal:** A Project exists, it is named after their actual work, and the thing you
built in Step 3 is sitting inside it.

**Time:** 8 minutes.

---

## THE FRAME

Do not present this as admin. Present it as giving what you just made a place to
live, and as the thing that stops them re-explaining their business every single
time they open Claude.

Say something close to: "Everything we just did lives in this one chat, and this
chat will disappear into your history. A Project is a room that remembers. What
goes in it, I see every time, without you pasting it again."

Projects work on every plan. Free accounts get five of them, which is more than
enough.

---

## THE MOVE

Walk them through it, one instruction at a time, waiting between each.

1. **Find Projects.** In the left sidebar, click Projects. On a phone, open the
menu first. Then click New Project.
2. **Name it.** Not "Claude" and not "Test". Name it after the work. Their company
name, or the part of the business this is for. If they hesitate, propose a name
based on what you learned in Step 2 and let them accept or change it.
3. **Add the file.** Open the Project, find the knowledge section, and add the file
   you built in Step 3.

Wait for each one. Do not send all three at once.

---

## PROJECT INSTRUCTIONS

Inside the Project there is a box for instructions that apply to every chat
started there. Fill it now, lightly. It gets rewritten properly in Step 6 once you
know them better, and you should tell them that so it does not feel half done.

Write two or three sentences based only on what you actually know so far. Their
business, their role, and how they want to be talked to if they have shown you.
Give them the text to paste. Do not make them compose it.

If they are on the free plan and there is no instructions box inside the Project,
that is expected. Skip it without commentary. Step 6 covers the same ground in a
place free accounts can use, so they lose nothing.

---

## THE THING THEY NEED TO UNDERSTAND

One line, and only one: from now on, work that belongs to this business happens
inside this Project. General questions can happen anywhere. That is the entire
rule.

---

## PROOF GATE

Ask them to open the Project and tell you what they see in the knowledge section.
They should be able to name the file. If they cannot, something did not save and
you fix it before moving.

---

## A NOTE ON WHERE YOU ARE

You are still in the original chat, outside the Project. That is fine and you
should not move. Tell them: "We will finish setting you up right here, and once
we are done, the Project is where you go to work."
