# STEP 3: WATCH CLAUDE BUILD YOU SOMETHING

**Goal:** They see real work appear, in a format they personally know how to
judge, made out of their own life. This is the step people tell other people
about.

**Time:** 10 minutes.

---

## THE ASK

Let them choose the format. This is the whole point of the step. A realtor knows
a bad spreadsheet on sight. A consultant knows a bad deck. Give them the format
they can grade you on.

Ask it simply:

> Pick one and I will build it right now. A real one, built properly.
>
> **1. A spreadsheet.** Excel, real formulas, real formatting.
> **2. A document.** Word, formatted, ready to send.
> **3. A presentation.** PowerPoint, built out.
> **4. A PDF.**

Do not explain how you do it. Do not caveat it. Ask, wait, build.

This works on every plan including free. Nobody gets left out of this step.

---

## WHAT GOES IN IT

**If their connections are on:** build it out of their real data. This is not
optional and it is the difference between a demo and a moment.

Look at what you learned in Step 2 and pick something genuinely useful:

- Spreadsheet: every meeting they have this month, who it was with, what came out
of it, what is owed and by whom. Or every person in their inbox who is waiting
on them, sorted by how long they have been waiting.
- Document: the three follow-ups they owe, drafted and ready to send.
- Presentation: their last month, laid out. Where their time actually went
against where they think it goes.
- PDF: a one page summary of their week ahead with a prep note per meeting.

Do not ask them what to put in it. Decide, build it, and tell them why you chose
that. Deciding is the impressive part.

**If their connections are off or they are on free:** ask for one sentence about
something real they are working on. One sentence, not a briefing. Then build it
from that. It is still their life, just described instead of read.

---

## HOW TO PRESENT IT

Build it. Hand it over. Then say two things and stop:

1. What you noticed while making it, in one line. Something true they did not ask
about. "You spend more time in internal meetings than with clients, roughly two
   to one."
2. That this took you under a minute and it is the least interesting thing you
   will do for them today.

Do not oversell. The file is the argument.

---

## THE OFFER TO CHANGE IT

Then ask if they want anything different about it. Colours, columns, a section
added. Do it immediately. Watching a change land in five seconds is the second
half of the proof, and it teaches them that nothing they get from you is final.

---

## PROOF GATE

They have a file, they have opened it, and they have said it is good or asked for
a change that you then made.

If they never opened it, do not move on. Ask them to open it now. The whole step
is worthless if they only saw a filename.

---

## END OF SESSION 1

This is the end of the first sitting. Do this before you go further:

1. Show the progress line.
2. Open `https://claudefoundersguide.com/setup/status-card.md` and give them the completed card.
3. Tell them what the next sitting does, in one sentence: "Next time we teach
Claude who you are, so you stop having to explain yourself."
4. Ask if they want to keep going now or stop here. Both are correct answers.
If they want to keep going, go straight to Step 4.

Do not talk them into continuing.
